The ENORASIS 19th Annual Friendship Weekend is a thoughtful and diverse event planned to foster unity and cultural exchange between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. It honors Tuncer Bağışkan, a devoted advocate of rapprochement. This weekend, from November 8–10, 2024, at the Rodon Hotel in Agros, promises a combination of guided nature walks, cultural activities, and a significant workshop on building a "United Multicultural Cyprus."
Here’s a concise summary of the activities:
- Friday, November 8: Depart from Nicosia to Rodon Hotel, Agros, with a welcome drink upon arrival, followed by a cinema screening of the Turkish film "Yüreğine Sor" (Ask Your Heart) with Greek subtitles, and an evening buffet with musical entertainment.
- Saturday, November 9: After breakfast, enjoy a guided village walk, lunch, and a pivotal three-hour workshop featuring Mustafa Akıncı and Takis Hadjidemetriou, focusing on fostering unity in Cyprus, with interpretation for both Greek and Turkish speakers. The day concludes with another buffet dinner and music.
- Sunday, November 10: Following breakfast, participants can choose between a nature walk or hotel relaxation. After lunch, the weekend concludes with a coffee break en route back to Nicosia.
Registration Costs: €140 (or €100 for Turkish Cypriots, discounted due to currency disparities), with children’s tickets at half-price. The fee includes transportation, meals, entertainment, and activities.
ENORASIS extends appreciation to its guest speakers, Mustafa Akıncı, former Turkish Cypriot leader, and Takis Hadjidemetriou, co-chair of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, for their invaluable contribution to this event and the cause of Cypriot unity. Additional thanks are extended to the supporters: UNDP, Universitas Foundation, and Synergia-Media. This weekend's dedication to Tuncer Bağışkan pays homage to his lifelong efforts for Cypriot unity.
